About Me

Hi, my name is Gidi…

Growing up in the Pacific North West, a majority of the months were filled with rain and overcast skies. To stay entertained during those gloomy days, I would watch movies. My mom, dad, brother, and I would make trips to Hollywood Video or Blockbuster to find a movie that struck our fancy. We would go home, put the VHS in the VCR, and get lost in a cinematic world for the night. Throughout the years, we have collected many VHS tapes of our favorite movies and we now have a collection where we could help re-open a Blockbuster store.

Growing up with so many movies helped me learn 2 lessons:

1. Be Kind - Rewind.
Who would have thought that VHS tapes would teach us to look out for one another. Not only did each VHS tape come with the sage advice of “be kind,” but it also let you know to think of others if you are renting a VHS tape. A quick and simple action that you can do right now can improve the experience of a stranger in the future.

2. The Power Of Storytelling.
Each movie has a message to convey, a story to tell. When you encounter a movie that allows you to get lost in the story, that is when time begins to melt. Characters, words, dialogue, angles. All of these are carefully chosen to best convey a message to the audience. If you want to find the best way to reach people, studying some of the movies that captured audiences’ hearts is a good place to start.

To wrap things up, I am a Portlander who loves movies, visual story telling, and kindness.
